Rain arrived in the Naples area for the opening round of the WSK Euro Series at Sarno. KF3 qualifying was on a wet track, but the 3 groups were not in similar conditions. There was steady rain for the first, the second on a drying track and then heavy rain to the end of the third, which had the overall slowest times. The gap between the sessions was not big enough to apply the 101% rule.
Dorian Boccolacci (Intrepid / TM) took pole in Group 1 with 1’30” 371 before Valentin Naud (Formula K / Vortex), Martin Kodric (FA Kart / Vortex) and Simone Cunati (Top Kart / Parilla). Alex Palou (CRG / BMB) took pole in Group 2 as well as the entire class with a time of 1’30” 355 ahead of the Zanardi / Parilla karts of Callum Ilott and Lance Stroll then Connor Jupp (Energy / Vortex) fourth.
Finally, the American Dalton Sargeant (Tony Kart / Vortex) was fastest in Group 3 in 1’31” 014, the seventh time overall, ahead of Russian Robert Schwartzman (Intrepid / TM), Slavko Ivanovic (RK / Vortex) and Nikita Sitnikov (Tony Kart / BMB).
The four group winners will meet in the SuperPole to fight for the highest positions on the grid.
