There were participants in this year’s Asia-Pacific KF3 Championship, which was held in Macao in parallel with the KF1 World Championship. Indian driver Jehan Daruvala (Kosmic / Vortex) had dominated the competition since the qualifying, winning 3 races and the prefinal while setting the fastest laps each time. However, at the start of the final, he was challenged by the Japanese Marino Sato (Maddox / Parilla). Marino first built a small gap of half a second, then Daruvala joined him after the halfway point, but lost again in the field during an unsuccessful attack. It was a a good show. Marino was more messy, but highly motivated, Daruvala was more efficient, but baffled by the style of his opponent and the ingredients of a beautiful end of race were there. Not hesitating to use the edges of the track, Marino tried everything to stay ahead. He probably woukd have won the race, but he left a gap on the last lap by taking an overly bold line. Daruvala is went through the open door to cross the finish line as a quite deserving Champion. Japanese driver Joe Ishida (Kosmic / Vortex) took 3rd place from the Hong Kong driver Jacky Chan Cheuk Hin (CRG / BMB) and the Thai Sasakorn Chaimongkol (Intrepid / TM). One could regret the absence of reference drivers from Europe to ensure more credibility in this respect, on a very spectacular track.
