The first twist in race 2 in the World KF1 at Zuera was on the grid when Nyck De Vries (Zanardi / Parilla) failed to start, gyres glued to the track, and his engine stalled. He was forced to join the penalty area and started at the back. Meanwhile, Alexander Albon (Intrepid / TM) did not profit from his advantage, Karol Basz (RK / BMB) just took him on the line. But Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart / Vortex) finished the first lap ahead of Felice Tiene (CRG / Maxter), Albon and Basz. De Vries was 22nd.
Tiene took first place on the next lap when D’Agosto fell to fourth Rémy Deguffroy (Tony Kart / Vortex). Albon was well back in the 3rd lap, but took 2nd passing Camponeschi and Deguffroy took third, but had to pass Tiene who risked contact at high speed. Basz recovered strongly, followed by Tereza Gromanova (Kosmic / Vortex). From the fourth lap, Albon got away from Camponeschi and got rid of Tiene. Sébastien Bailly (Kosmic / Vortex) then entered the top 10, while De Vries was back to 13th. Basz was in third position ahead of Tiene, Deguffroy and Gromanova.
De Vries reached the top 10 at halfway and started on Deguffroy and Tiene. We forgot to follow the driver at the front, Albon and in second position Camponeschi. De Vries first passed D’Agosto, then Gromanova, to take sixth. On the next lap, he attacked Tiene and Deguffroy so he was fourth. The end of race promised to be thrilling. Bailly attacked to retake D’Agosto. On the last lap, to the applause of the public, De Vries overtook Basz and Camponeschi and to his exceptional braking. Basz did not accept this and manfully took his chance at the final hairpin. Camponeschi took the opportunity to pass as well.
The finish crowned Alexander Albon who was very solid at the front then Camponeschi and Basz, and De Vries had to settle for fourth place that was not to his taste, despite a fastest lap 5 / 10 in front of everyone. Tiene finished fifth, Bailly sixth and Deguffroy seventh.
