Atypical Championship in the panorama of CIK-FIA competitions because of its host circuits, the European Superkart Championship – in its 2012 version – will comprise 4 events, i.e. one more than the format which had prevailed in the last eight years. Thanks to such extension, four out of the five dominating countries in Superkart (France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Sweden) are served with a European round.
In 2012 the European tour will start at Hockenheim in Germany, where the European Championship has not appeared since 2006. The rendez-vous is set at 21 and 22 April 2012.
The cradle of Superkart, the United Kingdom, will hold the 2nd round of the season on 14 and 15 July 2012. For many participants it will be their maiden visit to the circuit of Snetterton, which has recently been renewed. This meeting will have a “Superkart” dominant, which is unusual, since the traditional British Superkart Grand Prix will take place in parallel with the European Championship. In addition to the “European” twin-cylinder Superkarts, the programme will include races dedicated to 250cc single-cylinder karts and to 125cc KZs.
The third chapter will be written on 3-5 August 2012 in the Netherlands, at Assen – a unanimously appreciated must, both for Drivers and for the tens of thousandths of spectators who fill to the brim the grandstands of the circuit year after year.
The European tour will end on 28-29-30 September 2012 at another mythical motor sport venue, namely Le Mans. The ACO (Automobile Club de l’Ouest) has the ambition to create a major popular event by organising a brand-new meeting with a very evocating name: the “Feast of the ACO”. The idea is to show to the public a rich variety of disciplines and so the ACO will simultaneously open its three tracks: the Alain Prost Karting Circuit, the school circuit of “Maison Blanche” and the Bugatti circuit. The latter will see (modern and historic) motorbikes, GTs, F4 and European Championship Superkarts run during the same weekend.
