It was the young driver from CRG Racing Team, Mirko Torsellini, who displayed all his talent at Ortona by winning in KZ2 at the end of a stunning recovery drive from the last place he occupied in timed qualifying after losing a wheel. It was the realisation of Torsellini’s potential, after his constant fight for victory this season.
The WSK Final Cup 2011 was chosen by CRG for the debut of its two new recruits, Felice Tiene and Jordon Lennox-Lamb, in the 125cc gearbox class. Habitués of KF1, the two young drivers took this opportunity to prepare for a 2012 season in the CRG official team focussed on KZ. Their adaptation was particularly fast, and they were quickly in the top 10, visibly at ease in the midst of more experienced drivers. Tiene finished 7th and Lennox 8th, despite a very penalising retirement in one of the heats.
Davide Foré showed top-level performances despite a few technical problems in timed qualifying, and relentlessly recovered ground over the leaders to conclude his drive in 6th place in KZ1. Arnaud Kozlinski was climbing up brilliantly through the leading pack in the final when his chain jumped off, thus depriving him of a likely and deserved 4th place.
While preparations for the 2012 season are already underway, the CRG Racing Team showed at Ortona that it has all the elements, both human and technical, to aim for victory in KZ.
