After two false starts, the KZ was launched: Thonon, Lammers, Dreezen, Abbasse, Pex was the order. Toninelli hadn't started, plagued by clutch problems. Ben Hanley went upside down at the first corner and retired too.
Lammers fell to 5th position, then to seventh before slamming in the best time and going back on the attack. Visser was running 8th. Thonon led, but his opponents were agitated: Pex 2nd, Lammers 3rd, De Conto 4th, Dreezen 5th, then Abbasse and Yard Pex were coming through. On lap 7, Lammers went second by 2.5'' from Thonon ahead of Jorrit Pex, Yard Pex, and Dreezen . Visser was catching De Conto, followed by Abbasse.
By mid-race, Thonon increased his advantage. De Brabander joined the top 10 with Abbasse in his crosshairs, and in 13th, Renaudie came back quickly. Visser, bypassed De Conto to chase Yard Pex, the only KZ2 in front of her. Lammers dropped back again so the brothers Pex were in 2nd and 3rd places. Dreezen could not tolerate this any longer and was interposed in 3rd position, then captured second.
There was a group of Intrepids behind Yard with Visser and Lammers who wanted to move forward. He did this by passing Visser and Yard Pex, while De Brabander closed on his teammate. Renaudie took 8th ahead of the vigorous Abbasse.
It was a masterful victory for Thonon, Rick Dreezen 2nd, Jorrit Pex 3rd, Jorrit Pex 4th and Lammers 5th.
